WWE has a long history of scouting and developing talent through reality-based competition shows, from Tough Enough to the Diva Search. Now, with the launch of LFG: Legends & Future Greats on A&E, WWE is once again looking to find the next breakout star in a unique and highly competitive format.
Unlike previous shows, LFG combines elements of Tough Enough and American Idol-style talent scouting, offering a mix of training, promos, and in-ring evaluation. What makes it even more intriguing is the lineup of coaches: Booker T, Mickie James, Bubba Ray Dudley, and The Undertaker. That’s a who’s who of wrestling legends guiding the next generation of superstars, making this one of the most legitimate talent showcases WWE has ever produced.
Historically, competition shows like this have produced major stars. Mandy Rose emerged from the Tough Enough reboot and went on to dominate NXT as its champion. The Diva Search brought in names like Maryse and Michelle McCool. Even those who didn’t win—like The Miz—found ways to break into WWE and become main-event players. With LFG, WWE is looking to do more than just find a star; they’re creating a full-fledged pipeline from indie wrestling, amateur sports, and even outside industries into WWE.
With 15 episodes at 90 minutes each, LFG has a long way to go before we see who emerges as the next WWE superstar. But one thing is certain—these are the names we’ll likely see main-eventing in five years.
